We build hybrid turbochargers using upgraded compressor and turbine components to improve airflow, response and overall performance while retaining the original turbocharger platform. Depending on expected outcome, a hybrid build may include larger compressor wheels, turbine modifications, housing machining, upgraded bearings and seals, custom actuator setup.
Correctly designed upgrade can improve airflow and reduce restriction without making the vehicle unpleasant to drive day to day. Sometimes, upgrades can also help address known weak points found in certain turbocharger designs. Some customers want faster spool response and improved drivability, while others are looking for increased airflow to support remapping and higher boost levels. The outcome determines what will be modified.
Not every turbocharger responds well to modification, which is why we assess each application individually rather than applying the same setup to every build.
