IMPORTANT: Your warranty is only valid if the turbocharger is fitted in line with these instructions. Turboworks reserves the right to reject a warranty claim if turbocharger is starved of oil or lubricated with contaminated oil at any time. Please retain receipts for all fitting components as well as your warranty card.
BEFORE FITTING THE TURBOCHARGER
Ensure that any fault that caused the previous turbocharger to fail has been rectified.
Check that the engine exhaust, intake and intercooler systems are clean, free from damage and free from oil, gasket pieces, dust/dirt/carbon or foreign objects (including parts of the failed unit!). Any damaged parts must be replaced.
To prevent contamination of the replacement turbo, the oil feed pipe MUST be replaced, irrespective of condition.
Replace engine oil, oil filters and air filters using replacement parts specified by manufacturer.
Inspect the turbocharger oil drain pipe for kinks or carbon blockage. If in doubt, replace the pipe.
Remove all crankcase breather hoses and filters. Clean or renew the filters and hoses in line with the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendations.
Immobilise the engine. Using a clean container to catch the oil, crank the engine over until at least 1/2 pint (300ml) of oil is pumped out of the turbo oil feed pipe. This ensures any dirt or carbon particles, which otherwise may damage the turbocharger’s bearings, are flushed out.
